Toby was born in St. James, Minn., to Donald D. and Frances T. (McElroy) Sorenson. In 1962 the family moved to Rhinelander where Toby was raised. He was a graduate of Rhinelander High School. Toby was known to be a jack of all trades and a free spirit. This led him to be employed as a tanker driver, working in the mill, carpenter, roofer and doing concrete work.
He enjoyed snowmobiling and being outdoors.
Toby is survived by a daughter, Tara, two grandchildren, siblings Todd and Fred (Jane) Sorenson and special friends, Eunice Beatty and Dustin.
Toby is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Frances Sorenson.
A graveside service for Toby will take place on Friday, May 5, 2023, at 1 p.m. at Northland Memorial Park, located at the corner of N. Shore Drive and Lake Thompson Road. Please gather at the cemetery by 12:45 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, 725 Heartland Trail, Madison, Wisconsin 53717, 1-608-833-4555.
