RHS sports recap: Friday, April 14


Boys' tennis: Rhinelander 2-1, Wausau West Invite

The RHS boys' tennis team went 2-1 Friday in the Wausau West Invite. The Hodags fell to D.C. Everest 4-3 in the first match of the day before sweeping Wausau West and Wausau East by 7-0 margins.

Complete individual results were not available as of Saturday morning. The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, but pushed forward to Friday due to the threat of rain.

Rhinelander (4-1, 2-0 Great Northern) travels to Medford on Tuesday.

Golf: Rhinelander 3rd/3, GNC Spring Open

The Hodags nearly matched their opening round on Friday, but still slid back to last in a non-conference triangular featuring three GNC teams at Trappers Turn Golf Club in Wisconsin Dells on Friday.

The Hodags shot 352 Friday to finish with a total of 702 strokes for the two-day event, finishing 59 shots behind Lakeland and 11 behind Mosinee.

Andrew Henrichs had shot a career-best 79 on Friday, vaulting him to seventh in the final standings at 169 strokes for 36 holes. Brody Kowieski and Sam Schoppe finished in a tie for fifth at 168. Schoppe shot 85 on Friday and Kowieski shot 88. Blake Petroff (197) and Braden Mork (202) rounded out the Hodags' top five.

Rhinelander will compete in the non-conference Marshfield Invite on Tuesday.
