The Rhinelander High School boys' swim team was able to take part in another once-in-a-lifetime experience as a result of winning this year's WIAA Division 2 state championship.

The Hodags were one of five state championship-winning teams to be honored by the Milwaukee Brewers Friday, April 7 prior to their Major League Baseball game against the St. Louis Cardinals at American Family Field. State champs from Rhinelander, Stratford (Division 5 football), Monroe (Division 3 football) and New Berlin Eisenhower (Division 3 boys' soccer and girls' soccer) got to be on the field during pregame festivities and were recognized on the Jumbotron prior to the game.

"What a great thing to acknowledge high school athletes from all over the state in all divisions and bring people together," coach Jenny Heck said. "Those kids got a chance to talk together before they walked on the field and got to meet people from all over the state. It was just a neat experience that they were able to share not only with their teammates, but their families and other athletes."

Pictured on the Jumbotron, from left to right, are coach Brian Gaber, Zacha King, Jack Antonuk, Dolan O'Malley, Charlie Heck, Mathias Fugle, Carter Gaber, Shawn Denis, Daniel Gillingham, coach Brent Olson and head coach Jenny Heck. Team members Marcus O'Malley and Eli Lundt were unable to make the trip.

"The whole experience was just a ton of fun," coach Heck added. "We didn't really know what to expect and I think everyone there just had a great time. It was such a neat experience to be down on the field and see the players and be acknowledged on the Jumbotron. It was something special that you don't usually get to do in life. All the guys, and myself, had a nice time doing something other than being in the pool or the weight room together."

The Brewers won the game 4-0.
