Oneida County 4-H announces dog obedience club for youth
Oneida County 4-H is offering 4-H Dog Obedience Club for Youth to be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays May 1 through June 7 at the Raymond F. Sloan Community Building in Lake Tomahawk. The season will conclude with a Youth Dog Show on Saturday, June 10.
Youth must register by April 23 either online at https://oneida.extension.wisc.edu or call 715-365-2750 and must be enrolled in 4-H, which is free to join at any time.
The cost is $20 per child and includes a collar and a leash. Spots are limited.
"Although bringing a dog to practice is preferred, it is not required. Youth can attend practices simply to observe and learn," according to an Oneida County 4-H press release. "Youth are also not required to own their own dog; participants can bring a borrowed dog to work with. All participants will be required to show proof of vaccinations for each dog used before participating."
Participation requirements can be found on the website: https://oneida.extension.wisc.edu/dogobedience.
The club will be led by certified 4-H adult volunteer Susan Hartzheim, who has decades of dog training experience and who also recently led the 4-H dog obedience club this past fall. Oneida County 4-H volunteer Casey Rustan is the assistant dog leader.
