RHS sports recap: Friday, April 7
The RHS baseball team was swept in a doubleheader at Wisconsin Rapids 4-1 and 14-2 Friday afternoon in Rapids.
Sam Schneider singled and scored on a passed ball in the top of the inning to take the lead, but Rapids answered with four in the bottom of the inning, including a go-ahead two-run triple by Brett Simonsen.
James Heck pitched 4 2/3 innings of no-hit baseball, walking six and striking out nine. Oscar Hanson took the loss, allowing four runs on three hits in relief.
Rapids scored at least three runs in every inning in Game 2. Rhinelander's lone offense came on a two-out, two run double by Schneider in the third.
Dylan Vanderbunt started and took the loss for Rhinelander, which used four different pitchers in the contest.
Rhinelander (0-2, 0-0 Great Northern) is next scheduled to play Antigo, but the date and location of that game is dependent on field conditions.
