By River News Staff-
Rhinelander won the Wisconsin City Bracket tournament put on by lifestyle website the Milwaukee Record.
Voting took place in the head-to-head 64-city tournament from March 1 to March 31 on the Milwaukee Record's website.
Coming in as the No. 6 seed in the Northwest bracket, Rhinelander knocked of Bayfield, Minocqua, Chippewa Falls and Superior through rounds of voting to make it into the final four. Rhinelander routed top-seeded Madison in the semifinals - garnering more than 86% of the vote in that matchup - before defeating Menasha by a 62-38% margin in the final round.
In announcing the winner, the Milwaukee Record stated that more than 310,000 votes were cast during the tournament.
For winning the contest, the website proclaimed it will be rebranded as the "Rhinelander Record" for one day later this year and feature Rhinelander-specific content. The city will also be presented an award on behalf of the Milwaukee Record and sponsor Lakefront Brewery of Milwaukee.
