Rhinelander Police Department announces release of sex offender
Jason L. Mullen was released to community supervision administered by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Tuesday, April 4. Mullen will be residing at 17 W. Prospect Street in the City of Rhinelander. He is 5-foot-6 and weighs approximately 168 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He will be monitored by Probation and Parole and local law enforcement.
"He is not wanted by the police at this time," a Rhinelander Police Department press release stated. "This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public. Sex Offenders have always lived in our communities; but it was not until the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry and Community Notification Law was enacted that law enforcement was able to share this information with the community."
The press release states Mullen has been convicted of three counts of Third-Degree Sexual Assault and Exposing Genitals to a Minor. His victims have included both male and female minors 13-to-17 years of age. Mullen has met his victims both online and in public places. Mullen was last released in February 2022 but was arrested in March 2022 when he failed to update his Sex Offender Registry information.
Mullen will be subject to the conditions of the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry as a lifetime registrant and placed on lifetime OPS monitoring.
If a citizen sees Mullen engaging in concerning behavior including unapproved contact with a minor or activity on social media platforms, they are encouraged to contact either the Rhinelander Police Department at 715-365-5300 or the Oneida County Sheriff's Office at 715-361-5201.
