Rhinelander High School senior Ava Lamers was awarded the first-place prize in the statewide Cousins Subs "Driven at Heart" scholarship contest Saturday, April 1 in Milwaukee.

Lamers received a $7,500 scholarship that was presented to her by former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver during the 73rd annual Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

According to a School District of Rhinelander Facebook post, the scholarship is based on academics, community service, and athletics.

The Cousins Subs Make it Better Foundation has awarded more than $180,000 in scholarships to Wisconsin student-athletes since 2015. Lamers' older brother, Quinn, was a runner-up for the award in 2021 and took home a $2,500 scholarship.

According to SDR, Ava Lamers plans to attend the University of Montana.
