OCHD celebrating National Public Health Week
"The theme for this year's observance is 'Centering and Celebrating Cultures in Health,'" the Oneida County Health Department stated in a press release. "Emphasizing feelings of belonging, community and cultural connections supports our health and quality of life. We want everyone to know they can make their communities healthier, safer, and stronger when we support and stay engaged with one another. The focus goes beyond what we can do as individuals, but what we can do as communities to protect, prioritize and influence the future of the community's health."
Every day of the week focuses on a different public health topic prioritized by the APHA. The topics are:
• Monday: Community
• Tuesday: Violence Prevention
• Wednesday: Reproductive and Sexual Health
• Thursday: Mental Health
• Friday: Rural Health
• Saturday: Accessibility
• Sunday: Food and Nutrition
"Throughout the week, the Oneida County Health Department will have daily Facebook posts that explain how each topic coexists with each other and influence health outcomes, as well as, how we can help eliminate the barriers that keep people from achieving optimal health," the press release stated. "Together, we can make our communities healthier, stronger, and safer."
