The first wave hit Thursday night into Friday morning, with snow and freezing rain. The main even hit Friday night into early Saturday morning. Thunder was heard in the area Friday night before the storm turned into a massive snowmaker, knocking out power to thousands in the Northwoods.
According to storm reports gathered by the National Weather Service in Green Bay, Rhinelander received 13.8 inches of snow, Minocqua received 16 inches and there were unconfirmed pockets of 18-inch snowfall in portions of Oneida County.
Another shot of winter weather is potentially on the way, with forecasters calling for rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow today through tomorrow afternoon.
