She was born on Nov. 9, 1948, to Evelyn Margaret Hammond-Pitts and Harold Pitts in Rhinelander. Cindy spent part of her childhood in Land O'Lakes, and later moved back to Rhinelander. She graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1967, enlisting into the Marine Corp in June of 1967 and proudly serving her country until March of 1971. After her service, Cindy continued her career as the Oneida County Veterans Service Officer. She helped other veterans seek out assistance after their own services.
Cindy was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Rhinelander where she led the church youth group on canoe camping trips and cross country, treks. As a social member of her community, she spent her time ardently playing pickleball with her pickleball friends. Cindy loved her time with family and friends, always caring and giving, willing to help those she cared for, and extending her hand to those in need.
Cindy is survived by her daughter, Mary Matyasz (Mark Matyasz), grandchildren Luke Matyasz and Alyssa Pitts, brothers John Pitts, Todd Pitts and Lenny Youngren, and sister, Jan Strickland.
Cindy is preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, and brother Jim Pitts.
