Six weeks before local taxpayers weigh in on the School District of Rhinelander's request for approval of a new operational referendum, superintendent Eric Burke stood before a modest crowd in the Hodag Dome Tuesday morning, Sept. 27, 2022, to share information on school funding and the district's financing. On Nov. 8, voters will be asked authorize the district to exceed the revenue limit by $4,000,000 per year beginning with the 2023-2024 school year and ending with the 2026-2027 school year for non-recurring purposes. If passed, this new referendum would replace the current operational referendum which was approved in November 2018 and is set to expire in 2023. A full story on the presentation will be published in a future edition of the River News.
