The Friends of Town Line Lake Park has announced their first project fundraiser: Access for All - Town Line Lake ADA Compliant, Combination Fishing Pier/Kayak Launch.

The cost for the project, which includes the pier, kayak launch, gangway, paved path and signage, is approximately $52,000, according to a press release announcing the fundraiser

The ADA compliant kayak launch will be the first of its kind in Oneida County, the release states.

"Before starting the public fundraiser, the group received a $5,000 promise from the Rhinelander Community Foundation provided they're able to raise the rest of the project funds," the release states. "The group has committed $1,500 of their own funds and along with other initial donations, have raised $7,500. The effort to raise the balance of approximately $45,000 kicked off on Aug. 30. Since then, the group has received donations from Walmart, GBU Life, WPS Foundation and personal/community donations totaling another $11,500. The group has applied for funding from service organizations, foundations and has placed donations jugs at many area businesses. Donations can be made online at www.donorbox.com/ftllp and the group plans to hold events giving the public even more opportunities to help fund the project."

On Sunday, Oct. 2, the group will be hosting the fundraiser "Music in the Bowl - A Concert for a Cause" from noon to 3 p.m. Town Line Lake Park has a natural amphitheater affectionately nicknamed "The Bowl."

The concert is free with a donation to the pier project and will feature David Walters and the Old Pine Road Band. Attendees will receive a free Friends of Town Line Lake Park T-shirt and a bag of popcorn to enjoy while watching the show. A $5 lunch, consisting of a brat or hot dog, bag of chips, soda/water and a cookie, will also be available.

The Friends of Town Line Lake Park formed in 2021 when a group of concerned citizens learned of Oneida County's plan to sell a portion of historic Town Line Lake Park. With overwhelming public support, the county board voted to keep the park and work with the group. Now the group is working toward improving the park for use by people of any ability.
