The Rhinelander High School girls' swim team spread the wealth around Tuesday and, in doing so, was nearly perfect in a GNC dual against Mosinee.

The Hodags won all 11 events, taking maximum points in nine of them, as they cruised to a 136-27 victory at the Heck Family Community Pool.

Rhinelander had 11 different swimmers play a role in at least one win and swept the top three spots in eight events. Only a pair of runner-up finishes by Mosinee freshman Haylie Kluz prevented the Hodags from obtaining a perfect dual meet score of 140 points.

"Mosinee's a fairly new team and we were able to move kids," Hodag coach Jenny Heck said. "Once again, we're trying to fill those eight events they haven't all swam yet. Some of these kids haven't swam some of these events in two years. It was really fun to see their improvement and the time drops they've had."

Among those in different events on Tuesday, sophomore Ellyse Younker captured the 500-yard freestyle (5 minutes, 42.87 seconds) and the 100 backstroke (1:05.79) while Abi Winnicki swam to the win in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.93).

Winnicki was Rhinelander's only four-event winner on the night. She took the 200 freestyle (1:57.74) and was on a pair of winning relays. Younker, sophomore Lily Thorsen and freshman Emma Houg all were a part of three victories on the night.

"We had some really good times with kids that haven't swam some of these events before," coach Heck said. "I really liked Ellyse's 500 freestyle. I thought she really looked strong and powerful. Abi's breaststroke was fast. Some of our typical varsity swimmers also swam fast in some other events too, which was good to see. Ellyse had a tough second half of the meet with the 500, the back and the (400 free) relay. I thought she did really well with holding strong. Obviously, she's pretty tough and training well."

Thorsen won the 50 freestyle (26.35) and the 100 butterfly (1:03.55) for Rhinelander, Houg took the 200 individual medley (2:23.38) and Genna Fugle claimed the 100 freestyle (57.10).

Rhinelander swept the top three spots in six individual events. Winnicki, Alicia Lentine and Sam Sundby went 1-2-3 in the 200; Houg, Camilla Gruett and Abbie Ames were the top three in the IM; Thorsen, Abigale Johnson and Eva Heck swept the 50; Thorsen, Gussie Gruett and Claire Caselton went 1-2-3 in then butterfly; Younker, Johnson and Heck took the top three in the 500 and Winnicki, Camilla Gruett and Fugle swept the breaststroke.

"I as really happy with the first, second and third places," coach Heck noted. "Some of these kids who haven't swam varsity a lot got some great varsity experience tonight and I was really proud of them."

Additionally, Rhinelander swept the top two spots in all three relays and, on two occasions, a non-scoring third entry placed third.

Younker, Gussie Gruett, Houg and Phoebe Moran took the 200 medley relay (2:11.12) by 3.26 seconds over Fugle, Ella Cordy, Johnson and Ames. Rhinelander's third entry of Camilla Gruett, Eva Heck, Caselton and Margaret Lambert was third.

Rhinelander went 1-2 in the 200 freestyle relay with Winnicki, Cordy, Houg and Thorsen (1:50.25) beating Fugle, Caselton, Lentine and Camilla Gruett by 3.54 seconds. The Hodags swept the top three in the 400 freestyle relay with Eva Heck, Johnson, Ames and Winnicki (4:08.40) swimming to a 4.53-second win over Lentine, Cordy, Thorsen and Younker. Sundby, Lambert, Gussie Gruett and Moran finished third.

"It's just getting splits now on relays and seeing how we'll put those relays together for the conference meet," coach Heck said. "We told those girls tonight that they really needed to prove themselves because it's the time that we're formulating those relays and thinking about how we're going to put together our best lineup for end of season."

The Hodags travel to Fond du Lac Saturday for their final non-conference invitational of the regular season and are back home to face Colby/Abbotsford in GNC play this coming Tuesday.
