The Rhinelander middle school boys' cross country team took home the team title while sixth-grader Teagan Clark was the individual girls' champion Monday in the Great Northern Conference middle school invitational meet at Minocqua-Hazelhurst-Lake Tomahawk Elementary School.

The Hodag boys placed five runners in the top 14 to win the title by 28 points over Medford. The Hodag girls had four runners in the top 12, but ended up in third - four points behind winner Tomahawk and two behind runner-up Medford.

The meet featured middle school programs from all the schools in the Great Northern Conference.

Avrom Barr, Jackson Weinzatl and Henry Schmitz led the pack for the Hodag boys, finishing third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the race. All three runners covered the 3.2 kilometers in less than 14 minutes.

Michael Tredupp finished 11th for the Hodags and Austen Slette was 14th to round out the scoring five. Chasin Wallmow (38th), Juan Diego Grage (42nd), Jonathan Campbell (49th) and Wyatt Crowell (50th) also competed for the Hodags.

On the girls' side, Clark passed Tomahawk's Elsie Gibeault late in the going to win by 2.3 seconds, covering the course in 14:40.8. Ella Miljevich and Aleece Johnson also reached the podium for Rhinelander, finishing fifth and eighth, respectively.

Hayley Schiek finished 12th and Noelle Mayo was 39th to round out the scoring. Karly Gillingham (44th), Kaleiha Glebke (45th) and Olivia Hartman (48th) also competed.
