City to celebrate Hodag Park stage, amphitheater Sept. 28
The event will begin with a brief ceremony at 5 p.m. acknowledging donors followed by musical entertainment from Bogfoot until 7:30 p.m., city officials announced in a press release.
Food and refreshments will be available for purchase via food trucks by Casa Mexicana and CT's Deli as well as Rhinelander Brewing Company.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket to enjoy the entertainment, the release states. Updates and announcements will be posted on the Facebook Event page - Celebrate the new Hodag Park Stage!
After receiving a generous matching pledge of $100,000, the city partnered with the Rhinelander Community Foundation to build the stage. Donations were collected throughout 2021 and 2022 with individuals, corporations and organizations raising over $280,000.
"We're excited to celebrate this milestone with the community!" said Mayor Kris Hanus. "A big thank you to the over 70 donors for making this possible," he added.
Replacement fishing piers will be installed in 2023 and a refurbished multi-use trail through the park will be constructed in October.
"Construction projects and investments are occurring all across Rhinelander and we're excited to celebrate this addition to our parks system," said city administrator Zach Vruwink.
The Rhinelander Community Foundation maintains a Hodag Parks improvement fund and accepts tax-deductible donations on a rolling basis.
