Frank Harrington was born on Jan. 24, 1944, in Barnum, Minn., and passed away on Aug. 28, 2022, at his home in Rhinelander where his family was privileged to care for him. He was raised by his grandparents, Roy and Ethel Harrington. He graduated from Barnum High School in 1962. Following high school, Frank received a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from St. Cloud University (1979); and an EdS from the University of Wisconsin, Superior in Educational Administration (1987).

In his professional career, Frank was a classroom teacher for 14 years (including six years as a special education teacher) in Rudyard, Mich.; Pine City and Braham, Minn. Frank also worked as an elementary principal for eight years in Rhinelander and Mauston. Finally he was a school district superintendent for 19 years in Cornell, Phillips, Merrill and Athens. Frank thoroughly enjoyed the years he was involved in public education. During those years he committed himself to improving educational opportunities for students and the staff members. Frank received many letters of appreciation from staff and peers over the years.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Judy; his son Adam (Sherylynne) Harrington, his grandsons Drake and Aidan; his stepson Jeff (Lori) Oettinger, his grandchildren Tyler and Kali, his stepson Greg (Renee) Oettinger, and his grandchildren Cole and Abby. He is also survived by his two sisters Karen Youngberg and Mary (Mike) Schultz of Minnesota, his three brothers Jay Little of Alabama, Bob Little and Kelly (Mickey) Little of Minnesota, numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank greatly enjoyed and appreciated the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren, whether it was being active with them or simply watching them in their various activities and events. When Frank retired from education, he certainly didn't sit still. He was willing to tackle new projects for family, changing his plans on short notice to serve others. In summers he enjoyed bicycling, and in winters down-hill skiing. They enjoyed traveling throughout the states appreciating the beauty of many places. We will remember him for his steadfast faith and spirit and his great encouragement and positive influence.

A celebration of life is planned for a later date.
