Oneida County 4-H announces volunteers of the year
Lynn Feldman of Rhinelander was awarded Oneida County 4-H Volunteer of the Year. Feldman, who has volunteered with Oneida County 4-H since 1988, helped coordinate this year's Oneida County Youth Cultural Arts Festival, volunteered at the Rhinelander Youth Summer Theater Program, helped lead 4-H afterschool programming at the Boys & Girls Club of the Northwoods, served as president of the Oneida County 4-H Leaders' Association, participated in annual 4-H training, and volunteered at various 4-H community club events.
Feldman received a 4-H recognition plaque and certificate during the awards banquet, according to a press release announcing the honor.
"For more than three decades, Lynn has worked tirelessly to empower young people with the skills to lead for a lifetime through mentorship, hands-on projects, and meaningful leadership opportunities," said Anne Williams, Oneida County 4-H Educator. "This past year was no exception, as she continued to help young people develop skills to be more confident, hard-working, determined, responsible and compassionate so they can thrive in life."
Guest speaker Sue Bessert spoke about how her 4-H experiences growing up influenced her professional career and the current volunteer efforts she is involved in at ArtStart and the Rhinelander General Federation of Women's Club.
Northwoods Pets, represented by Molly Cook, was honored with the Friend of 4-H Award.
"Northwoods Pets not only provided space for 4-H youth members to meet monthly, but their staff helped share information and education related to responsible pet ownership," Williams said.
4-H youth were also recognized during the event. Noelle Mayo (president), Rally McFadden (vice president), Makayla Wachal (secretary), Quinn Williams (treasurer), Elise Williams (pledge leader), Logan Wachal (snack helper), Anna Lee Nobrega (snack helper), and Zane Colburn-Guschl (snack helper) were recognized for their 4-H community club leadership roles. Louis Malais was recognized for service as Vice President of the Oneida County 4-H Leaders' Association.
4-H adults Casey Mayo, Mary Puestow, Amy Engel, Casey Rustan, George Deering, and Susan Hartzheim were also recognized for volunteering with Oneida County 4-H throughout the past year.
