Millie was born in Rib Lake on March 23, 1932, to Ernest and Irene (Krueger) Gerbig.
She was raised in Medford and was a 1950 graduate of Medford High School. Millie was united in marriage in 1951 to Carroll Haenel. The couple lived in Medford for a short time. The family eventually moved to Rhinelander. Millie had been employed with various businesses in Rhinelander, but she will be remembered for selling Avon products for many years.
She was a member of the Rhinelander First United Methodist Church.
Millie enjoyed rummage sales and flea markets.
Surviving are her children, David (Lydia) Haenel, and Brian (Teri) Haenel, all of Rhinelander; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, June Skinner, Norman Krueger, Sam (Lynnette) Krueger and a brother-in-law, Jack Haenel. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Millie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carroll Haenel in 1986, one grandson, Jacob Haenel, and by brothers and sisters.
A Celebration of Millie's Life will take place at a later date.
The Committal Service for Millie will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Northland Memorial Park. Please meet at the cemetery by 12:45 p.m. Rev. Mark Klaisner will officiate.
