Town supervisor Dan Hess said at the board's Oct. 6 meeting $2,875 has been raised since the town started working with the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin in July.
"That was basically in a couple days," Hess said. "I haven't received anything since (Sept. 30)."
The town will continue to accept donations until its three-year building contract is complete with its primary contractor, Keller, Inc.
Information with regard to donations can be found on the town's website, and those who choose to contribute can be recognized through dedication of a conference room, kitchen and reception area, among other things.
When the new town hall was approved by electors in April, town treasurer Jodie Hess indicated residents could expect a maximum increase of approximately $20.80 per $100,000 of assessed property value.
However, Dan Hess said during last Thursday's meeting the more money raised the better it will be for taxpayers.
Currently, the project is undergoing a rebidding process due to lack of competitiveness the first time.
A walk-through is scheduled for potential subcontractors on Oct. 25 and a new bid opening is scheduled for Nov. 3.
"I feel a lot better (about the project)," Flanigan said at the Oct. 6 meeting. "The reason being, I think, since 2020, the tides are changing. I think they started changing probably a month ago. We, as an organization, have not had subcontractors reach out to us in literally years, and now they're starting to. ... People are looking for work ... I did let people know in September that this was coming around in October and we're already getting phone calls and emails saying 'Hey, where's this at?' So, I feel a lot better about it."
Before the board decided to rebid the project, its goal was to start the build this fall. That changed, however, now that it is undergoing the bid process again. Construction is now expected to start in spring.
