He was a 1970 graduate of Rhinelander High School. Upon completion of high school Jerry moved to Nebraska and was employed with Nucor Steel Nebraska. He moved back to Rhinelander in 1987. He then was employed as a handyman. Jerry eventually met Jaennine Byczek in 1987 and they have been inseparable ever since.
He was Catholic by faith.
Jerry had two important passions, attending Green Bay Packers games, and riding his Harley Davidson Low Rider.
He will be dearly missed by Jaennine; children, Jason Wagner of Omaha, Neb., and Jarread Wagner of Ironwood, Mich., one granddaughter, Rowan Wagner; stepchildren, Shannon (Scott) Baumann of Summerville, S.C., Adena (Eric) Hinz of Rosemont, Minn.; step-grandchildren, Connor, Colin, and Colton, Henry and Leonard; and his four-legged companion, "Stella".
Also surviving are siblings, Dennis Wagner of Melrose, Wis., Sandy Schobert of Janesville, Boni (Art) Brunner of Jackson Hole, Wy., and a sister-in-law, Jane.
Jerry is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur Wagner in 1960 and Lorraine Wagner in 2021, a brother, Bob Wagner in 1995, a sister-in-law, Barbara (Stockley) Wagner, and a brother-in-law, Ronald Schobert.
The visitation for Jerry will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at the Hildebrand Funeral Home from 10:30 a.m. until the 1:30 p.m. memorial service. Fr. Chris Kemp will officiate.
Inurnment will take place in the spring of 2023 at Pine Lawn Cemetery in Manitowish Waters.
