Doreen was raised in Stockton until moving with her family to Greeley, Colo., where she met her soon-to-be husband Alex Groskopf. They moved to the Rhinelander area in the early 1960s where they raised their six children. Alex preceded her in death in 1970. Doreen was fortunate to find love again with Reverend David Boxrud. They too enjoyed many years together until David's passing in 2015.
Together with David, she led a somewhat nomadic life, living in many parts of the country; from building a cabin on an island in Alaska to ministering their faith in the quaint city of Wabasha, Minn. Upon retiring, she moved to Sun City, Ariz., and eventually settled in beautiful Sugar Camp, to be near the family she loved so much. They shared love and adventures until David's passing in 2015.
Doreen also had a varied professional life; she owned Lincoln Cleaners in Rhinelander, she worked at a fishery in Alaska, she was activities director and had a modeling career in Sun City, Ariz.
She was the sweetest, kindest, most loving soul and was loved by everyone that met her. She was a social being, who loved God and all his creations, people and animals. She was richly blessed and enjoyed telling everyone so.
Doreen was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Groskopf; husband, Rev. David Boxrud; brother, Chuck Wilson; and daughters, Diane Nylund and Loretta Jo Groskopf.
Doreen is survived by her daughters, Carol Burgy, Nancy Lorbetske (Steve Lurvey) and Lori Oettinger (Jeff); sons, Donald Groskopf (Merri Huber) and William Groskopf (Clara); grandchildren, Alex Nylund (Renee), Robin Nylund (Doug Brown, Sr.), Lonnie Nylund, Maggie Anderson (Wendell), Tara Lorbetske-Cunha (Denilson), Kevin Groskopf (Kim), Marci Melton (Dan), Jessica Berger (Don), Ryan Burgy, Bree Ann Jakimzak (Ed), Tyler Oettinger, Kali Oettinger, Katie Specht, and Sara Specht; great-grandchildren, Justin, Taylor, Ashley, Alexis, Jedadiah, Benjamin, Hunter, Levi, Azari, Natalia, Giovanna, Jefferson, Elijah, Isaiah, Aidan, Tucker, Teagan, Reed, Carmen, Parker, Eleanor, Finn and Bowen; great-great-grandchildren, Bryce, Gwinneth, Maddy, Vivianna, Jaydon, Kaylee, Caiden, Addison, Keyan and Cailyn.
