Mary A. Junion, 83 years, of Sturgeon Bay, was called home to heaven late Saturday night, Nov. 12, 2022 at home with her family at her side.

Mary was born on May 3, 1939, in Sturgeon Bay, to the wonderfully large family of Louis and Laura (Haberli) Schartner where she was one of 13 children. She graduated from Sevastopol High School with the class of 1957. Mary worked in customer service for Schartner Implement and at Egg Harbor Lodge for 23 years. On June 17, 1961 she married Bill Junion at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Institute, Wisconsin.

She was a very social, fun-loving, beautiful lady who was active at her church, S.S. Peter and Paul and the altar society. She enjoyed golfing with Bill and friends, playing cards, baking and taking lots of long walks together with Bill. She had a great love for family, children and grandchildren.

Surviving family includes her devoted husband, Bill; six children, Janet (Charles) Hadley of Chesapeake, Virginia, James (Arlene) Junion of West Jacksonport, Jodi and (Dave) LaCrosse of Brussels, Renee (Greg) Oettinger of Rhinelander, Vicki Piazza of Franklin, Carrie Maringer of Muskego; grandchildren, Laura and Meagan Hadley, Michelle (Robbie) Black, Jacob Junion, Sara (John) Laughrin, Allison (Shawn) Neuman, Natalie and Aaron LaCrosse, Cole and Abby Oettinger, Paige and Josie Piazza, Sullivan and Elliot Maringer; seven great-grandchildren; four remaining siblings, Robert Schartner, Helen Henschel, Arnie Schartner and Ann (Allan) Tanck.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Louis and Laura Schartner; grandson, Benjamin Junion; siblings and spouses, Doris Schartner, Louis (Ruth) Schartner, Leonard (Joan) Schartner, Donald (Shirley) Schartner, William Schartner, Carol (John) Grandbouche, Diane Schartner, Roger Henschel, Kenneth Schartner and Evelyn Schartner.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022, at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Stegmann officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Friends called from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Huehns Funeral Home and on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. A parish wake service was held at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at Huehns Funeral Home. The Rosary was prayed at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Muscular Dystrophy Association in her memory.
