Pictured, RIA manager Brett Aylesworth stands at the podium to accept a donation of $2,160 from Holiday Acres representative Gladys Fritz. The donation represents a percentage of room revenue generated by hockey teams who stay at the resort when they take part in tournaments hosted by the RIA. To date, Holiday Acres has donated more than $22,000 back to the RIA.
"One thing that teams that come here talk about is the experience," Aylesworth said in his remarks. "A lot of people ask around the run, 'Oh, where are you staying?' The ones who stay at Holiday Acres always say, 'We come to your tournaments to stay at Holiday Acres.' It's not only about hockey, it's about the experience Holiday Acres can provide them as well. We thank you for putting up with hockey teams for the last 20-30 years."
The night consisted of a barbecue dinner, raffles and auctions. At the banquet, RIA officials stated that the event has raised more than $100,000 for the organization since its inception.
The RIA recognized many longtime supporters and volunteers during the banquet and presented the Buttney Family Scholarship, which covers the registration costs from one male and one female youth hockey player within the RIA.
