Dorothy Rita Rudolph passed into her eternal reward on Nov. 4, 2022 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and husband, as a result of a severe stroke. She was 89 years old.

Dorothy was born on June 27, 1933 in Flensburg, Minn., to Mathilda "Tillie" (Sanoski) and Leo Witt. She attended St. Francis High School in Little Falls, Minn. and worked as a bank teller both in Little Falls and later in St. Paul for several years. She married Thomas Rudolph in Flensburg on Dec. 29, 1954 and they enjoyed nearly 68 years of married love and parented seven children. They lived in St. Paul while Tom completed his graduate studies at the University of Minnesota and moved to Rhinelander in 1959 to Tom's new job. Dorothy was a dedicated and hard-working mother who employed her many talents in bringing up the children. She was an excellent seamstress and also produced many beautiful crocheted and knit items for the children and as donations to craft fund raisers. When the children were grown, she worked part-time at a variety of jobs in Rhinelander including at Drs. Foster and Smith Animal Clinic, Maurice's, and Flatley Oil Company. She also sold Avon Products for 35 years. In addition, she found time to do much volunteer work.

She was an organizer and charter member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary in Rhinelander and served as its president for many years. While volunteering for more than 30 years with the St. Mary's Hospital Volunteers, she served as president of the organization and also initiated and chaired that group's Annual Plant Sale fund-raiser for 20 years. She has been an active member and supporter of Nativity of Our Lord Church and spent many years volunteering in the Nativity Thrift Shop.

She will be gratefully remembered for her loving, generous, compassionate heart and willingness to help others.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Tillie and Leo Witt, her sister Cecelia Miller, brother Stanley Witt, infant son Daniel, and granddaughter Leah Ottman. She is survived by her husband Thomas; children Mary (Thomas) Ottman of Blaine, Minn.; Mark (Marlene) Rudolph of Rhinelander; Michelle (Jack) Alonso of Rhinelander; Marcia (Max) Schneider of Midland, Mich.; Martina (Robert) Wallace of Ramsey, Minn.; and Dr. Michael (Laura) Rudolph of Newburgh, Ind. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, located at 125 E. King Street, in Rhinelander on Saturday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. con-celebrated by the Very Reverend Chris Kemp and Reverend David Maciej, Dorothy's nephew. Visitation will be from 9-10:45 a.m. at the church. There will be a eulogy at 10:45 a.m.

Burial will take place at 2 p.m. at the Northwoods National Cemetery. There will be a procession to the cemetery at 1:30 p.m.

Memorial donations in Dorothy's honor may be made to Nativity of Our Lord Catholic School.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the medical staff in the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit at UW Hospital for the excellent and compassionate care they provided for Dorothy.
