Dorothy May Hooker, passed away on October 25, 2022, in Rhinelander at the age of 89.

Dorothy "Dot" was born on December 21, 1932, to Patrick and Grace (White) Deau. Dorothy attended St. Mary's School and graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1950. After graduation, Dorothy worked at the Rhinelander Telephone Company. On July 16, 1960, Dorothy married the love of her life George Hooker.

Dorothy was very active as a volunteer in Rhinelander. She was a Cub Scout leader, Bluebird leader, and a lifeline volunteer. Dorothy and George enjoyed delivering meals on wheels together, camping, traveling, and cookouts with their friends. Dorothy enjoyed working at J.C. Penney's as a "Fine Jewelry Sales Specialist". She was known to purchase more jewelry than she sold! Dorothy loved her poodles Daisy and Daisy 2 very much.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, parents, Pat and Grace Deau, sister, Patricia Hagen, and a brother, Delore Deau.

Dorothy is survived by her children, David (Donna), and Dennis (Pam) Hooker, and Georgia "Gigi" (Phil) Laska; granddaughters, Grace Hooker (Jason Stubeda), Suzanne (Bob) Feller, Becky (Craig) Swan, Faith Hooker (Brandon Zamora), and Marianne (Dakota) Jordan; her great-grandsons, Nathan and Noah, and great-granddaughter, Kolby, and by a sister-in-law, Ruth (Dick) Johnson. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews whom she was known by "Aunt Dee-Dee." Dorothy is further survived by her special extended family members.

Dorothy's family would like to thank the staff of Compassus at Home Hospice and a special thank you to her aide, Crystal, and the staff members at Friendly Village for all the love and support shown.

The visitation for Dorothy was held on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, located at 125 E. King Street, Rhinelander. The visitation was from 10 a.m. until the 12 p.m. Memorial Mass. Fr. Chris Kemp officiated.

Immediately following the mass there was a procession to Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery where a Committal Service was held.
