Mallory Myers, a senior at Rhinelander High School, was recognized as an Exemplary Soloist at this year's Wisconsin School of Music Association State Solo Ensemble Festival at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point.

Myers was recognized in not one but two events, according to a School District of Rhinelander press release. "On May 7, 2022, she performed and was recognized for both her classical solo - 'O Mio Babbino Caro' and her musical theater solo - 'Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again' from 'The Phantom of the Opera.'"

The Exemplary Performance Recognition Project expands recognition of outstanding performers at the WSMA State Solo & Ensemble Festival, the release states. State festival adjudicators select the most exceptional performances at each of the festival campuses. Throughout the state festival day, adjudicators have an opportunity to nominate a limited number of performances that were truly exceptional - beyond what is typically expected. At the end of the day, each adjudicator selected the most exceptional performances to receive the exemplary recognition from among those nominated.

Selected students and schools receive a certificate from WSMA in recognition of outstanding performance at the state festival.

Founded in 1932, Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) is a non-profit service organization with more than 1,000 member public and private schools.
