Rhinelander High School seniors receive scholarships totaling $368,435
Seventy-seven Rhinelander High School seniors received 198 scholarships from over 100 local donors, totaling $368,435, according to a School District of Rhinelander press release. This includes scholarships presented by RASF as well as other community scholarships, the release states.
The Rhinelander Area Scholarship Foundation was established in 1991. The board, which consists solely of volunteer members, facilitates the awarding of hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships to graduating Rhinelander High School seniors annually. RASF is a 501c3, non-profit charitable organization. The scholarship award ceremony is held annually in May.
The scholarship money is provided from both the Rhinelander Area Scholarship Foundation itself and the generous giving of over 100 local donors whose investment in Rhinelander's bright youth speaks for itself, the release states.
RASF's mission is to provide both academic inspiration and financial aid to students planning higher education beyond the high school level to help them achieve their educational goals. With the assistance of their treasurer Randy Beard, RASF manages a portfolio of extremely generous proportions to award to graduating seniors. Local family memorials, class reunions and businesses have generously contributed to help send students to school after graduation, some helping finance full ride scholarships and all greatly offsetting the cost of expanded schooling and training.
Since 1991, the Rhinelander Area Scholarship Foundation alone has awarded $412,350 to 514 graduating seniors, many of whom may not get scholarship support from other sources. Fundraising is the primary source for these additional funds.
