Norma Delores Frankenberg, 88, passed away on May 19, 2022, at Grace Lodge in Rhinelander. She was born May 1, 1934, at home to John and Augusta (Haugen) Hughes in Hillsdale.

Norma graduated from Barron High School in 1952. She married Ray Frankenberg from Cameron on September 25, 1953, at the United Methodist Church in Barron. That fall they moved to Rhinelander where Ray began his 25 years of broadcasting at WOBT as "Ray Walters"

Norma stayed very busy raising her family and running her home. She was a talented seamstress sewing for many customers in Rhinelander and surrounding area. Many beautiful weddings were the result of her creativity. She went to work outside the home in 1975 as a secretary for the Rhinelander School system where she worked for over 20 years.

After she retired, in addition to being a devoted caregiver to her husband Ray, she also found time to volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital in the gift store and waiting room for many years. She eventually was able to travel to Hawaii, Washington D.C. and many other places with her wonderful friends.

Norma had several hobbies over the years. She and Ray rode snowmobiles, ATVs and motorcycles across the area when they were both able to do so. She was also an avid card player belonging to many Bridge and Canasta card groups. She has many wonderful card playing friends that kept her busy during the later years even getting a card playing group organized at Grace Lodge.

Norma is survived by her daughter Susan (John) Mallett, her sons, Bryan (Patti Dart) and Jason (Karrie), her grandchildren: Jessica Yarbrough, Michael Carley, Kyle Mallett and McKenzie and Madisen Frankenberg and her six great-grandchildren; her sister Patricia (Richard) Fladten, brothers Raymond (Gloria) Hughes and Wayne (Mary) Hughes; brother-in-law Edward Frankenberg, many nieces and nephews, other family and friends.

Her family would like to thank those responsible for the wonderful care given to her by the staff at Grace Lodge as well as Compassus Hospice Care and Mary Carlson her personal caregiver. The family can never thank you enough for the tremendous care and kindness you have shown her .

Visitation for Norma will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 9:30 to 11 a.m., with funeral services following at 11 a.m., all at the First United Methodist Church in Rhinelander. Reverend Mark Klaisner will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Northland Memorial Park Cemetery.
