Downtown flower basket project celebrates 15th year
"Beautiful downtowns are vital for showing community personality, for increasing community engagement, and for driving tourism and sales for our businesses," according to a DRI brochure explaining the project.
The success of the project, which began in 2007, depends on the contributions of local individuals, businesses and organizations, according to the brochure. The annual cost to support a flower basket and summer care remains $100 and all who donate $100 or more are publicly acknowledged on social media.
Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated, organizers stressed.
To make a contribution, include your name, address, phone, email. Also note if you are donating in honor or in memory of someone.
Checks should be made payable to Downtown Rhinelander Inc., PO Box 1638, Rhinelander, WI 54501. Please note "Beautification" in your memo line.
In addition to the hanging baskets, this project includes the planters on Davenport Street, other downtown plantings and the park across from Tilly's.
