Born Sept. 22, 1942, in DeKalb, the daughter of Charles P. and Mary E. "May" (Skelley) Hart, Patricia worked in medical billing for most of her working career, retiring from Ben Gordon Mental Health Center in DeKalb. She was a 40-year breast cancer survivor. Everywhere she went, she knew someone. Always friendly to everyone, smiling and laughing, Patricia was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb and the Moose Club.
She and her family lived from 1976 to 1985 in Rhinelander, where she went to the Hodag Country Festival; she loved country music festivals. She enjoyed bowling, boating and spending time with family "on the lake." She loved snowmobiling, even though she wasn't very good at it. She was a true "wrestling mom," and enjoyed watching her kids', grandkids' and great-grandkids' sporting events. The host of many Christmas dinners and family get-togethers, Patricia was a great cook, and the family continues to make all her best recipes for sweet potatoes and lemon dessert. They will always remember her favorite snack: potato chips and a Coke or a Coors Light poured over a big glass of ice. She was dearly loved by her family, because she was "always there" for anyone who needed a helping hand and a loving sense of humor.
Patricia is survived by her children, Dana (Randy) Culton of Sycamore, Troy (Peggy) Colby of Batavia and Brian (Kristin) Colby of Waunakee; grandchildren, Ryan (Paige) Colby, Ashlee (Matt) Ritschdorff, and Hailee (Joseph Posledni) Colby, Brian (Taylor) Colby, Melissa (Grant) Martel and River Colby, and Kyle Culton and Austin Culton; great-grandchildren, Parker, Rylee, Paxton, Autumn, Connor, Logan and a great-granddaughter Martel expected soon; siblings, Stanley (Carol) Hart and Charlene (Hart) Blazier; and her beloved fur babies with whom she enjoyed spending time.
She was predeceased by her parents; and a brother-in-law, Paul Blazier.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family for a scholarship to be established in her name. The family extends special thanks to the staff of Lincolnshire Place and ProMedica Palliative Care for their loving care of Patricia.
Visitations will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2022, at Quiram Sycamore Chapel, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, IL 60178, and from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment will be at St. James Cemetery, Lee, at a later date.
