She married the late Lewis O. Fox in July of 1954, and they enjoyed their married life together in Green Bay, before relocating to Rhinelander in 1972. She, along with her husband Lew, created a wonderful family life for their three children that was filled with love, support, and care.
Leah is survived by her younger brother William Ottensmann of Sun City, Ariz. and three children: Debra Ann Lewis (husband David), of Fairfax Station, Va; Barbara Lynn Yerke (husband David), of Portage, and Jeffrey Guy Fox (wife Angela Renee), of Lexington, Ky. She is also survived by three grandchildren (John Yerke, Nate Yerke and Kara Reens (husband Phil) and one great-grandchild, Asher Reens.
Leah was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years in 2006, her parents, her younger brother James Ottensmann and his wife Sally Ottensmann (Brotz), and her sister-in-law Jean Ottensmann (Wendt).
Leah had a very strong Christian faith and was an active member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Green Bay. She was also a devoted member of the First Congregational United Christ of Christ of Rhinelander for over 50 years. She served faithfully on a number of different committees and freely gave of her time, talents, gifts and presence to the church. Leah had deep love and appreciation for music and it was always a significant part of her life. Over the years, she led junior choirs, sang in church choirs, and participated in a number of different singing groups in the area like the Jubilee Singers and the Nicolet College Choraliers. She possessed a wonderful talent to hear and sing a harmony to any song. Golf was another passion of Leah's. She started playing shortly after getting married and played well into her eighties despite her failing eyesight. Leah so enjoyed her friends and membership at the Rhinelander Country Club and over the years golfing on lady's day, participating in club events and playing on the club's Northeastern Wisconsin Golf Association ladies' team.
Her kind soul, concern for others, distinctive laugh and ever-loving heart will be missed by all those who knew Leah.
The Fox family wanted to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Milestone Assisted Living in Rhinelander for their many years of friendship, compassion and care they extended to Leah. And also, their sincere thanks to the staff at Rennes Health & Rehab Center and Compassus Hospice for providing her compassion, care and comfort as she neared the end of her life.
Per Leah's wishes, a celebration of life service will be held in Rhinelander later this spring or early summer.
