Pat graduated from Blue Island High School in 1958, and then attended Illinois State University for a couple of years, then worked at the Chicago Board of trade for several years.
On Sept. 3, 1960, Pat married Lyle Koerner, to this union a son Lyle Jr., and a daughter Teresa was celebrated.
Pat and Lyle lived in the Williams Bay area for several years, and then moved northward to Hazelhurst in 1972. Pat became head banquet waitress at Fischer's Holiday Inn in Minocqua. Pat then was hired by Nicolet College in 1977 and worked for over 25 years retiring as an administrative assistant in 2002. Pat also served on the Minocqua, Hazelhurst, and Lake Tomahawk (MHLT) school board for six years, two as treasurer.
Pat loved her wild animals. She volunteered at the Northwood Wildlife Center for 28 years, giving tours of the facility to the visitors of the area. Pat liked her quiet. She loved feeding her deer and birds and mostly just visiting with her close friends. Pat enjoyed her family very much and often bragged about her three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Pat is survived by her son Lyle (Kathy); her three grandchildren, Nicholas (Christine) Koerner, Megann (Ben) Pielhop, and Mackenzie Koerner (fiancée Ryan Nadeau); six great-grandchildren Corretta, Augusta, and Dominque Koerner, and Madeline, Brielle, and Brayden Pielhop; sister Judith McGuire, sister-in-law Diane McGuire, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by her husband Lyle, daughter Teresa, parents Joseph and Dorothy, brother Terry (Diane).
The family would like to gratefully thank Shannon Engen and the close friends of Pat for their loving care and friendship over the past four months.
As per Pat's request, there will be a visitation at noon, followed by a short service at 1 p.m. at Nimsgern Funeral Home, on Friday May 6, followed by a celebration of her life at the funeral home until 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Northwoods Wildlife Center in Minocqua or to Wild Instincts in Rhinelander.
