Playing against mainly select teams from Minnesota, the Hodags won their first game in an eight-team bracket before losing to the eventual champions in the semifinals on a long-range shot late in the second half. Rhinelander bounced back with a win in the third-place match. The team also had a runner-up finish in a tournament in Oshkosh earlier in June.
The squad including a number of players who will be part of the Rhinelander High School boys' soccer team this fall.
"The coaches could not be prouder of how you all played this weekend," Hodag coach Nathan Bates stated on the team's Facebook page. "Keep up the hard work we are looking forward to this fall season."
