He was born in Rhinelander Jan. 16, 1951, to Ruben B. and Evelyn A. (Piasecki) Nitzel.
David was raised in Sugar Camp and in 1969 graduated from Three Lakes High School. He was united in marriage at St. Kunegunda of Poland Catholic Church to Christine Alsteen Sept. 11, 1971. He was employed as a truck driver for 30 years with Pitlik & Wick.
David enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, sausage making and mushroom picking.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Christine Ann (Alsteen) Nitzel, son, Ruben David Nitzel of Sugar Camp, mother, Evelyn Ann (Piasecki) Nitzel of Rhinelander, grandson, Timmy Felbab of Rhinelander, brothers, Dennis Ruben (Emiline) Nitzel of Rhinelander, Mark A. (Teresa Mayfield Nitzel) Nitzel of Sugar Camp, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Andrew Alsteen of Pine Lake, Ruben (Debbie) Alsteen of Wausau, Sandy Alsteen of Rhinelander, Carmie (Terry) Alsteen Windquist of Pine Lake, Audrey (Fred) Duberstein of Pine Lake and Gail Alsteen of Pelican. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ruben B. Nitzel and a daughter, Angela Ann Nitzel Felbab.
The Celebration of David's Life will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022, from 1 to 5 p.m. with a memorial service taking place at 1 p.m. at the Sugar Camp Town Hall located at 4059 Camp 4 Road, Sugar Camp.
