Harlyn, born April 30, 1942, reached his 80th birthday and celebrated with friends and family, a much hoped for milestone.
Harlyn "Hunk", grew up in Rhinelander, and after graduating high school there, proudly enlisted and served his country in the service of the U.S. Navy. A devoted veteran, he was a member of the American Legion and supporter of "Folds of Honor" as well as the "Warrior Built Foundation".
Harlyn was a skilled pipefitter and retired member of UA local 118 in Kenosha working more than 15 years at Illinois Range, helped decommission Zion Nuclear Power Plant and worked the LaCrosse BWR. In his retirement he ran his own refrigeration repair company always helping everyone he could.
Harlyn was a well-known prankster and lived life out loud. His greatest joys included hunting, fishing, raising an annual vegetable garden, his hunting dogs, cooking, and canning. He wouldn't turn down any opportunity to enjoy these experiences with his friends, daughter, Lisa, brother, "Bugs", nephews and other devoted family members.
Harlyn was a dedicated friend and anchor in his community. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by parents, Gladys L Jensen (Fourtner) and Earl Jensen; brothers, Marlyn and Deone; sister, Cleone Meirhofer; brother-in-law, Sandy Scheeler, great-nephew, Dean Mueller and mother of his children, Beverly Jensen.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Davis and brother, Ronald (Helen) Jensen of Kenosha; sister, Cherlyene (Barky) Scheeler, Lake Wales, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Donna Jensen, Rhinelander and Lucille Jensen, Arkdale; and brother-in-law Eugene Meirhofer. Further survived by 3 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The visitation for Harlyn will take place on Monday, June 27, 2022, at the Hildebrand Funeral Home from 10:30 a.m. until the noon funeral service with Chaplain John Uhlarik officiating.
Immediately following the service there will be a procession to Northland Memorial Park where a committal service will take place and military honors will be conducted by the Ray Rousseau V.F.W. Post 3143 Rhinelander and two representatives from the United States Navy.
