The Hodags never trailed in the contest, but had to hold on as Lakeland scored all nine of its runs over the final four innings.
Caden Sieker had two hits for Rhinelander in the contest, while Tyler Chariton, Dylan VanderBunt, Barak Rappley, Seth Nofftz and Declan Adams also had hits.
Rhinelander led 3-0 after two innings. Nofftz got the scoring starting with an infield hit that plated Sieker. Nofftz stole second and third and, after Ben Olson reached on a walk, Nofftz and Olson successfully executed a double steal of home and second. Olson later came around on a wild pitch.
The Hodags and tacked on a run in the third, as Sieker reached on a two-out error that scored Chariton, before Lakeland answered with four runs in the fourth to tie it.
Rhinelander got all four runs back in the bottom of the inning as Devin Feck drew a bases-loaded walk before VanderBunt hit a bases-clearing double to make it 8-4. Sieker scored again in the fifth on an Olson fly to center that was dropped. Lakeland got three back in the top of the sixth, but Rhinelander Black matched it in the bottom half of the inning on a two-run single by Rappley before VanderBunt came home as part of a double steal with Rappley.
Lakeland threatened in the seventh before hitting into a rally-stopping double play.
VanderBunt started and pitched three scoreless innings with a hit, two walks and five strikeouts. Olson allowed seven runs over 2 2/3 innings with three strikeouts. Rappley pitched the final 1 1/3 innings to earn the save, giving up two runs.
That win came on the heels of a 14-5 win for Rhinelander Black at Three Lakes on Wednesday.
The Hodags led 4-3 after one inning, but scored five in the second and one more in the third to seize control of the contest.
Nofftz went 4-for-4 with a triple in that game, while Sieker and Rappley had two hits each. Pitching details were not available.
Rhinelander Black (3-0) hosts Crandon tonight at Stafford Field and will have a take on the only other unbeaten team in the league, Lakeland Black on the road Thursday.
