YMCA and Rhinelander Pickleball to host 'Clash of the Paddles' at Pioneer Park
Participants must register with a partner and play a round robin format based on their USAPA ratings, organizers said in a press release.
There are seven brackets this year. The intermediate women, intermediate men, and intermediate mixed divisions will take place in the morning. The advanced women, advanced men, advanced mixed, and skinny singles divisions will take place in the afternoon. Intermediates should have a 3.5 USAPA rating or lower and advanced 4.0 plus. Teams will be given a starting time based on the number of teams entered. Teams are guaranteed five games and USAPA rules will apply throughout the tournament. Registration is open to the first 36 teams and must be made by Wednesday, Sept. 7.
"Last years tournament was both fun and challenging," said Marilyn Duschl, tournament director. "We look forward to another great event."
Food from CT's Deli Food Truck, A'la Mode Ice Cream and Coffee Shop, and Holiday Gas will sell coffee and snacks throughout the day. Spectators are welcome to sit and enjoy the competition from all over the state.
The fee per player is $30 and $10 for entering an additional bracket.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in each bracket. Proceeds from this tournament support the Y Annual Support Campaign which provides assistance for youth, adults and families to attend YMCA programs and activities and Rhinelander Pickleball. Online registration will be taken until Wednesday, Sept. 7.
