John was the beloved husband to Cindy Olson for the last 26 years. John and Cindy enjoyed their yearly trips to Florida, tending to their vegetable garden and home, hosting family get-togethers, and serving at Calvary Baptist Church. Papa John loved spending time with his kids, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren, whether it was camping, fishing, watching sporting events, or taking the trash to the dump. Time with his family was John's most treasured moments.
Everyone who knew John, knew his love for Jesus, Packers, and golfing. John gave freely of himself to his beloved church and beyond in the Rhinelander community. John loved all God's children and willingly helped anyone who had a need.
John is survived by his wife Cindy Olson, children Frank Volkmann and Jenni, Jim and Lynn Volkmann, Jodi and Jay Meinen, James, Kenneth, and Todd Olson, brother Jim Olson, grandchildren Ashley, Colton (Kayla), Amanda, and Mikaela Volkmann, and Talan and Tatum Meinen, great-grandchildren Brayden and Bodie Volkmann, and countless others who loved him. He will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Delta (Donahue) Olson, his sister Norma Molander and his brother Charles Olson.
Visitation for John will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 10 to 11 a.m. with memorial services following at 11 a.m., all at the Calvary Baptist Church. Reverend Rod Ankrom will be officiating. Committal and Military Honors will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the Northwoods National Cemetery.
