Bruce Allen Frasier
Bruce was born on May 1, 1933, to William and Roselyn (Cook) Frasier in Rhinelander. After Bruce graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1951, he attended University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minn. In 1953, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served until being honorably discharged in 1957. During his military commitment, he represented the U.S. Naval Pistol Team. Bruce was also the sole recipient of The American Spirit Honor Medal in Company 58 of the US Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, Ill., awarded for displaying honesty, integrity and high example to comrades in arms.
During his enlistment, he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Joan Budreau, in 1953. They started their family while living on Coronado Island, California. In 1957, Bruce and Joan came back to Rhinelander and raised their family, which grew to nine children. Once back in his hometown, Bruce returned to the family business, Frasier's Plumbing and Heating, started by his grandfather in 1918. Having helped in the business for much of his childhood, Bruce then remained with the company, retiring as President of Frasier's Plumbing and Heating in 2004.
Enjoying many outdoor hobbies, Bruce was an avid hunter for whitetail deer, grouse and turkeys. He enjoyed fishing with his father, sons and grandsons. These adventures would sometimes take him beyond Wisconsin into South Dakota, Ontario, Montana and Florida, although his favorite place was at home on the lake in Wisconsin. He also enjoyed traveling with his family, visiting Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Israel and throughout the United States.
Paramount in Bruce's life was his faith. He enjoyed spending time with his church family in Antigo. When asked what gave him the most joy in his life, his response was seeing others come to know the Lord Jesus.
Bruce initiated several philanthropic endeavors, taking work crews to impoverished areas in South America, the Bahamas, Mekoryuk Island in far west Alaska, as well as in his local community for families in need. He used his extensive knowledge and skill set in plumbing, heating and electrical to help others live more comfortably. Bruce also served on the board for Headwaters Christian Youth in Rhinelander for several years.
People who have known Bruce often comment on his fine character. Regarded as a very kind and gentle person, he was considered like a father to many of his employees. Bruce was a very humble person, never complaining about his own circumstances and always demonstrating perseverance. He forever put others first, all the way to the end of his life.
Bruce was predeceased by his mother and father as well as his brother, Brian Frasier, and sister, Sharon (Frasier) Jones. He is survived by his wife, Joan, and children Anne Hagen of Rhinelander, Mary Frasier of Chippewa Falls, Patricia Frasier of Kaukauna, Joseph and Kelly (Stribley) Frasier of Hudson, Teresa Kincaid of Worthington, Minn., Daniel and Lois (Cummings) Frasier of Wincester, Mass., Phillip and Joanna (Perik) Frasier of Rhinelander, Catherine Frasier of Atlanta, Ga., and Margaret (Frasier) and Kevin Clancy of Lenno, Italy. He is also survived by his sister Beverly, brothers Larry (Nancy) and David (Janet), 29 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the outstanding and compassionate staff at Milestone Senior Living in Tomahawk as well as Compassus Hospice Care.
Visitation for Bruce was held on Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 9 to 11 a.m. with funeral services following at 11 a.m., all at the Carlson Funeral Home in Rhinelander. A memorial is being established in Bruce's name that will benefit local non-profits he felt strongly about. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is serving the Frasier family.
