Lucille was born and raised in Marshfield. She was a 1955 graduate of Spencer High School. While attending high school Lucille was part of a singing group that achieved the highest honors. She was also a trumpet player in the high school band and also was the band majorette in parades. Upon completing her high school education, Lucille began her nursing training at a convent. She then transferred to Marquette University where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She met her future husband, James Beery, while at Marquette University. The couple were married on Nov. 24, 1962 at Church of the Gesu in Milwaukee. After James completed his degree in Dentistry the couple moved from Milwaukee to Rhinelander so Jim could open a dental practice. The couple purchased a small home on a lake in Rhinelander and two of their three children, Mary and Mike, were born at this time. During this time Lucille was employed at the Rhinelander hospital. The family then rented out their home and moved back to Milwaukee so Jim could earn his degree in Orthodontics. Lucille continued to work as a Registered Nurse. The family then moved to Marshfield where Jim set up an orthodontics practice. The family lived in Marshfield for many years and Lucille was employed in a nursing home and assisted James in the office. The family then moved to Downers Grove, Ill. where James became a Professor of Orthodontics at Loyola University. Lucille was employed during this time with two nursing homes as the Head Nurse. The Beery family returned to Rhinelander where Lucille worked alongside her husband, James, in his orthodontics practice.
Lucille enjoyed attending church in Marshfield, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and the Assembly of God in Marshfield for special occasions. While living in Rhinelander, Lucille attended St. Joseph Catholic Church.
