Penny Rae (Reader) Huffman, age 64 of Billings, Mont., passed away on June 7, 2022 after a brief battle with cancer. She was born on July 7, 1957, in Rhinelander, to Clarence (Bud) and Nancy (Terzynski) Reader Jr.

Penny lived most of her life in Rhinelander, graduating from Rhinelander High School in 1975. After high school she moved to Colorado where she met Robert (Bob) Huffman. Penny and Bob were married on July 15, 1988 in Rhinelander. Penny and Bob operated Huffman's Mobile Heavy Equipment Repair in Monico, until Bob's passing in 2011. Penny also worked for Forward Service in Rhinelander for many years.

With a love for the outdoors, Penny spent most of her teen years snowmobiling or waterskiing depending on the season. As an adult, she loved to camp both in Wisconsin and in the mountains of Montana. She also loved riding her Harley.

Penny was a loving and devoted mother to her children, Lindsey and Cole.

Her greatest joy over the last 2 ½ years was being with her granddaughter, Sterling Rae.

She is survived and dearly missed by her daughter Lindsey (Mike Vitt), granddaughter Sterling, her son Cole (Nick Altuz) and sister Patricia (Mark) Lanser. She was loved by her nieces and nephews and their children, aunts and uncles and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents, Clarence and Nancy, infant sister Lynn, paternal grandparents Clarence and Lillian Reader Sr. and maternal grandparents Edward and Frieda Terzynski.

A "Celebration of Life" to honor Penny will be held on July 16 at 11 a.m. at Monico Town Hall. 2333 Forrest St. Monico.
