The Hodags led wire-to-wire in both contests, but nearly squandered an 11-point second-half lead against the Raiders. A 33-22 advantage was cut to 43-41 with 4 minutes remaining before the Hodags answered with a key 7-0 run. Senior-to-be Jordan Legere made a driving layup and junior-to-be Owen Ives hit a 3 to put Rhinelander up seven with 2:24 to go. Marathon spent much of the next two minutes fouling to finally get Rhinelander into the bonus and senior-to-be Kyle Brown knocked down a pair of free throws with 26 seconds left to effectively ice the game.
Rhinelander scored the first 17 points against a cold-shooting Wittenberg-Birnamwood team that missed its first eight attempts from the field. The Hodags led 22-6 at half and the advantage never got under 13 points n the second half.
Brown had 13 points and junior-to-be Will Gretzinger had 12 points to lead Rhinelander against Marathon. Incoming freshman Deven Feck had 14 points, all in the second half, to lead the way against the Chargers. Brown and Gretzinger had nine each in that contest, as the Hodags hit 11 3s overall.
