Susan Irene Wold, age 83, of Weston, passed away Saturday, Jan. 1, 2022, peacefully at her home. She was born in Rhinelander on Oct. 21, 1928, to the late Paul and Julia (Piasecki) Steingreber. She was raised in Sugar Camp, alongside her younger sister Clarice. Early in life she developed a strong bond with Jesus Christ that lasted her entire life. She remained a member of both Zion Lutheran in Rhinelander and Mt. Olive Lutheran Parishes in Weston. Susie was a very sociable person, enjoying the company of almost everyone she met, nobody was a stranger to her, and you could never forget having a conversation with her.

Prior to the birth of her children, she worked as a secretary and later in retail at DeByle's Department Store. She was very devoted to and adored her family, which she often expressed through her actions, spoked words and humorous journal entries. She was always willing to care for her grandchildren, and later her great-grandchildren, whenever she had the opportunity. She developed an especially close relationship to her great-grandson, Kolbe Loose, through the many years they spent together. She spent five years caring for many children as a babysitter alongside her daughter-in-law Julie Wold.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Paul and Julia Steingreber, her much beloved and dearly missed sister Clarice Dane, and  her lifelong friend and former husband, Larry Wold. She is survived by her children, Rick (Cindy Romatowski) Wold, of Mosinee, Todd (Peggy)  Wold, of Wausau; brother-in-law Mike (Dawn) Dane, nephew and grand-niece Kevin and Kaitlyn Dane; grandchildren Rich (Colleen)  Wold, Ron Bargender, Tara (Ryan) Brummer, Haley Wold and Brooke  Wold; great-grandchildren Jaxson, Kaylynn, Paxton, Hawkins, Kolbe, Jorgie, Mckenna, Ariana.

A celebration of Susie's life will be held at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church on Feb, 5, 2022. Visitation will be at 1 p.m., a ceremony at 2 p.m., followed by a luncheon at Whiskey River in Wausau. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to any of the food pantries in Wausau and Rhinelander.
