She was born on May 24, 1938, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Walter and Harriet (Corpron) Mollenhauer. She is survived by her daughter Debra (Steve Berndt) Krug, Rhinelander; her sons M. Hans (Lynn), NYC, and William Liebert, Rhinelander; her two granddaughters Katelyn and Elizabeth Krug and her three brothers Warren (Sally), Richard (Karen) and William (Patty) Mollenhauer, all of Milwaukee; nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Carl J. Liebert on July 4, 2018, daughter-in-law Erika and her parents.
In 1955, she met her future husband, Carl, while on a family cruising trip with the Milwaukee Cruising Fleet of which both their parents were members. They were married on June 25, 1960 only weeks after she graduated from Lawrence University in Appleton, with a BA in art history. Marilyn carried that artistic sense her entire life, mostly expressed through her hobbies which included many types of knitting but especially her beautiful handmade quilts.
Marilyn was a wonderful homemaker and was very involved in the community while bringing up her three children. As a member of the Rhinelander Public Library board, Marilyn was instrumental in garnering support from area townships, which created the Rhinelander District Library in 1982, leading to the library expansion project in 1984. She also enjoyed the outdoors during every season. From snow skiing to waterskiing. snowmobiling to playing tennis, boating and along with traveling around the country and overseas.
