RHS FBLA/DECA donates to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northwoods
According to a School District of Rhinelander press release, the funds collected during this year's "miracle minute" were donated to the Boys & Girls Club of the Northwoods, at the suggestion of the school's FBLA/DECA Club.
"The miracle minute happened schoolwide on Monday, Jan. 24 during flex time," the release states. "For one minute, teachers passed around envelopes in their homeroom classes. After which, the FBLA/DECA officers collected the envelopes and counted the money collected. A total of $250 was collected from the students and staff during one minute."
On Wednesday, Feb. 9, Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Abbey Smith attended the bi-weekly FBLA/DECA chapter meeting and presented on her career path, what her job as the executive director entails, and what volunteering opportunities are available for students at RHS.
After her presentation, the FBLA/DECA officer team presented her with the $250 donation.
In addition to the "miracle minute" collection, spirit week includes dress-up days, activities and the SnowBall dance.
