Jamie Ann LaBrasca, age 51, of Rhinelander, died on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022 at Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital. She was born in Merrill, to Elmer and Charlene (Bletsoe) Karau, on July 8, 1970.

We are extremely saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Jamie - wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, co-worker and best friend.

Jamie met Steve in 1985 while attending Lakeland High School where she graduated in 1988. They then moved to Manitowoc where Jamie attended Lakeshore Technical College, earning an Associate's Degree as a paralegal in 1990.

Jamie was dedicated to public service. While attending college, Jamie worked for the Manitowoc County Register of Deeds office.

In 1991, they moved back to Minocqua where Jamie worked for Oneida County Social Services and later transferred to the Oneida County Public Health Department. Jamie married Steve in 1993 and eventually began working for the State of Wisconsin, Department of Public Health, where she remained until her passing.

Jamie was selfless. She would go out of her way to help others before caring about her own wants or needs. Jamie absolutely loved her two sons, Brett and Grant. Jamie enjoyed the boys' friends company too as she was like a mother to them as well.

When Jamie wasn't working, she enjoyed cooking, camping, boating and playing games with family and spending time in the sun as well as her love for music, especially Prince.

Jamie was a lover of all animals and had adopted several during her lifetime. She loved sloths, but never moved like one.

Jamie fought a courageous 4-month battle with cancer and always remained positive and smiled during her treatments.

Heaven gained an angel and those that were lucky enough to know Jamie will always have a piece of her in their hearts.

Jamie is survived by her husband Steve LaBrasca, sons Brett of Eau Claire and Grant of Rhinelander, sisters Jody (Brad) Wipperforth of Minocqua, and Wendy (Bob) Ferrer of Prior Lake, Minn., brother Thomas Karau of Franklin, other family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

There will be no services at this time for Jamie. You may leave your private condolences for the LaBrasca family at www.carlsonfh.com.

The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is handling the arrangements for the family.
