She was born Feb. 9, 1935, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Harold and Bernice Regner. She was a graduate of Waukesha High School.
Carol was united in marriage to Douglas S. Hext on April 24,1954 and they resided in Sussex, until 1979 when they moved to their beloved home on the lake in Rhinelander.
Carol was a founding member of the Sussex Sled Bugs snowmobile club and was the secretary for Hext Electric from 1980 until the time of her death.
She loved sitting on her patio overlooking the lake, enjoying the sunshine, her flowers, her garden gnomes and visiting with friends and family. Every spring she would help Doug make maple syrup. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing. Carol was happiest when her children, grandchildren and friends would visit.
Carol is survived by her husband, Douglas; her daughter-in-law, Sharon; sons Robert (Laurie) of Rhinelander; Dennis (Karen) of Atlantic Mine, Mich; James (Lori) of Rhinelander; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her father and mother; her son Douglas; and granddaughter Megan.
At Carol's request there will be no funeral service. A private memorial will be held for the immediate family at her home, and she will be laid to rest upon her husband's passing with a military service at Northwoods National Cemetery in Harshaw.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hildebrand Funeral Home & Cremation Specialists, 24 E. Davenport Street, Rhinelander, Wisconsin, 54501, 715-365-4343. Everyone is invited to sign the guestbook or leave an online condolence at www.hildebrandrussfh.com.
