Thirteen criminal counts were filed Friday against the 32-year-old Shawano man who was captured Wednesday evening after attempting to evade police in the Lakeland area.

The defendant, Cody J. Huebner, made an initial appearance in Oneida County Circuit Court Friday afternoon at which time Judge Mike Bloom noted that 13 criminal counts, as well as a number citations, had been filed against him.

Due to an issue with the state's online court record database, no case number was assigned at the time of the court appearance and the criminal complaint was not immediately available.

Thus, as of press time, it was unknown whether the complaint charges both misdemeanors and felonies, just that there are 13 criminal counts.

After noting that Huebner's criminal history includes convictions for burglary and theft, and outlining a series of events that took place Wednesday when officers attempted to arrest Huebner on a probation warrant, Oneida County district attorney Mike Schiek requested a $100,000 cash bond be set in the case.

He noted that the officers' reports indicate Huebner led members of law enforcement on two separate high-speed chases on a day when road conditions were poor due to the weather. He also noted the conduct took place in an area where members of the public were traveling.

At approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday, sheriff's captain Terri Hook issued a statement warning residents in the Cassian area that a man believed to be "armed and dangerous" was at large.

"The Minocqua Police Department attempted to make contact with a suspicious male," the release said. "The male entered a vehicle and a pursuit began. After stealing another vehicle, the person took off on foot into the woods with a gun."

Approximately two hours later, Hook reported that the man, identified as Huebner, was in custody.

In a follow-up press release, the sheriff's office explained that the search for Huebner began after the Minocqua Police Department received information about a suspicious vehicle in the area. The vehicle was registered in Huebner's name and officers learned that he had an open probation warrant for his arrest.

"Minocqua Police Department officers observed the vehicle in (a grocery store) parking lot and attempted to make contact with the male entering the vehicle," according to the release. "When approached, the male, later identified as Huebner, entered the vehicle and attempted led law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit southbound on Highway 51. Huebner crashed his vehicle in the Hazelhurst area and ran on foot into the woods. Huebner pointed a handgun in the direction of one of the pursuing officers and Huebner told the officer that Huebner was not going back to jail. Huebner attempted to enter a home but was not able to. Huebner then found an unlocked vehicle with the keys in the vehicle in a driveway and stole this vehicle. While driving away from the neighborhood, Huebner struck one of the deputies causing non-life threatening injuries. Huebner then led law enforcement on an eight-mile chase in excess of 80 miles an hour on ice-covered roads. Huebner then exited the car and ran in the woods near little Little Bearskin Lake. After approximately two hours. Huebner was arrested in the area of South Shore Road and Pollnow Road in the town of Cassian."

Calling the alleged conduct "aggravated' Bloom set bond in the amount requested. An adjourned initial appearance in this case is set for 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec.. 22.
