A convicted sex offender will be released to community supervision in the Rhinelander area later this month, the city police department announced Monday.

As of Dec. 6, Mark T. LaFond, 51, will be residing at 17 W. Prospect Street in the City of Rhinelander, the department announced in a press release. He is 5'10 and weighs approximately 210 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes.

LaFond was convicted of first-degree sexual assault of a child in 2012. His target victims have been juvenile females between the ages of 5-10 years old, according to the release.

LaFond will be monitored by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Division and local law enforcement. He is also subject to lifetime GPS monitoring and is prohibited from having any social media account. He is also subject to the conditions of the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry.

If a citizen sees Mark LaFond engaging in concerning behavior, including unapproved contact with a minor, they are encouraged to contact local law enforcement.
